Prolan Co. has got three branches. In the early days of Prolan we focused on the automation of electric power networks.Prolan Alfa LLC – predominantly active in the field of railway system automation - was established in 1998 as a member of the Prolan group. We started to develop our own radio ripple control device in 2004.

Railway automation Projects

(2009) Establishment of Central Traffic Control system in Szeged region

In fall of 2006 MÁV published the public tender „Delivery of station interlocking systems reconstruction and remote control systems financed by the Vendor”, which aimed to build up a state-of-the-art control center in Szeged for the more than 300km long lines. The tender was awarded to Prolan, the contract was signed in August 2007. The [...]

(2012) Prolan Locomotive Onboard Computers on 25 new MÁV TRAXX locos

MÁV Hungarian Railways is still committed to the fleet management based on the Prolan Locomotive Onboard Computers, the newly purchased 25 TRAXX locos are running with our products on their board. The installation was performed in the Kassel located plant of Bombardier based on the Prolan logistic and documentation services.

Railway automation

Our first large project was the delivery of GYSEV’s integrated railway control system where beside the power supply control (FET) we created the functionality of central traffic control and supervisory systems (KÖFE, KÖFI), too.

Our Electronic Control Desk System (ELPULT) was applied first here, which replaces the traditional electromechanical control desks. ELPULT allows the remote control of railway stations and remote control of entire lines or railway reagons. The system’s security certification was made according to the latest valid EU standards. Prolan is the first Hungarian company which can deliver a secure railway control system in compliance with CENELEC MSZ-EN 50126, 50128, 50129 standards.

The Alcatel User Interface (AKF) was ordered by Alcatel Austria AG – now known as Thales RSS GmbH. The reason why our partner chose us is that Prolan was the only company in Hungary that had experience with safety certification of railway software. AKF was developed for connecting man and machine in Elektra I. and II. electrical interlocking systems. This product was applied at Vecsés, Üllő, Monor and Komárom railway stations, on line 4. between Sopron and Szombathely, and at 13 stations from Boba to the Slovenian border.

Between 2007 and 2009 we created the remote control system in Szeged region for MÁV, by October 2011 we handed over the railway remote control system in South Balaton region. Thanks to the project the traffic of the railway line can be followed on a modern monitor wall instead of the old fashioned projectors from the control center in Fonyód, so the traffic of the line can be overviewed easily and quickly with one look. In the meanwhile we worked on the reconstruction of the GYSEV Sopron-Szentgotthárd line. Beside the delivery of the electronic control desks, we also created the power supply control (FET) and control system of the traction substation and input section break in Körmend.

Our Rolling Stock Department installed Locomotive On-board Computers (LOC) on 1500 diesel and electric traction vehicles and control cars of MÁV group. LOC is a complex on-board computer equipped with GPS and GSM modem. It is designed for the automatic control of the railway traffic. In addition to the support of the traffic control it is also opens the way for further functional, passenger-friendly developments such as internet based or audio passenger information system. The proof of the product’s success is shown by that MÁV had our LOC on their newly purchased TRAXX vehicles installed at Bombardier’s site.
