Prolan ECLIPSE Smart City in Szank

2018.07.18

Using state-of-the art equipment developed by Prolan Co. The first SMART CITY system in Hungary was implemented in the municipality of Szank, in Bács-Kiskun county. The system is based on the public lighting network and it covers the whole settlement. It was the first time our company has applied its ECLIPSE SMART CITY system in such a location where the public lighting network is energized continuously 24 hours a day. The Smart City services built on the intelligent public lighting combined with the sensor techniques provide significant improvement of the quaility of life for the residents.

The new intelligent LED-light based public lighting infrastructre supports lots of SMART CITY services, such as camera system, Wi-Fi hotspots, light measuring sensors, controlled decorative lighting and in addition the remote monitoring of the low voltage power distribution network has been also included in the new system.

The Smart City concept realized with the aid of the Szechenyi Plan 2020 means an area of smart city services that are improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the village with the use of advanced technologies. The SMART CITY system allows further integration of electric car chargers remote monitoring, displaying data of noise and air pollution measurement data, integrating meteorological stations data, controlling security camera systems, number-plate recognition, empty parking place detection, etc.

Beside the various Smart City services it is now possible the measure the parameters of the low voltage power network: voltage, current, power and consumed energy. The users of the system are provided with more accurate information which makes possible energy efficient operation. Significant saving are resulting by using the installed light control and the programmed luminous flux timetables. The diagnostic information provided by the system allow for clear identification of errors, the companies responsible for maintenance can be selected correctly.

Using the smart city functions of the ECLIPSE SMART CITY the service providers are notified online about the state of the public power network, the quality and errors of the feeding lines, the outages and other issues. There is no need to wait for the public complaints, claims, annoyances, because the information about failures are available at the moment of their occurrence, therefore the actions regarding corrective measures and logistic organization can be commenced immediately.

The content of the project related to provision of 365 new intelligent FULLED lamps in 9 transformer areas of Szank are as following:

  • 213 db SL3 36W, 16 LED, 4150lm, 4000 K, intelligent FULLED lamps,
  • 155 db SL3 72W, 32 LED, 8808lm, 4000 K, intelligent FULLED lamps
  • 23 db Hikvision IP cameras
  • 23 db Wi-Fi hotspots
  • 9 db ECLIPSE segment controller modules
  • 365 db ECLIPSE lamp control units
  • 10 db ECLIPSE Low Voltage Control Units
  • BLUX-06 light measurement sensors
  • DALI switch boxes with relays have been installed.

The robust switching concept of the public lighting centre according to the light measurement

The ECLIPSE SMART CITY system switches OFF and ON the public lighting of a whole settlement based on the installed light sensors when reaching the pre-configured LUX value by controlling all relays together in the same time. When using astronomical calendar control, the system waits for the signal of the light measurement unit within a time frame close to the programmed time (e.g. ±20 minutes). If the signal does not arrive then the system will automatically switch the lighting at the end of the time period.

In order to support the maintenance works, the system contains such detailed information about the lamps that are making possible the equivalent replacement of lamps, thus in case a lamp is destroyed or its manufacturing has ended, there will be no problem to fully replace the lamp or manufacture an identical lamp.

The 24 hour operation of the public lighting system makes possible the continuous functioning of the camera system and WiFi hotspots, thus providing a positive influence to public safety and the infrastructure versatility, making the settlement more safe and more habitable.
