Milestone in Railway Digitalization on the Budapest–Hegyeshalom Main Line
As part of the project “Eliminating Bottlenecks and Improving Interoperability on the Budapest (Kelenföld) – Hegyeshalom Railway Line,” Prolan Zrt., commissioned by the main contractor R-KORD Kft., has achieved another milestone in the digitalization of railway operations.
By implementing the Central Traffic Control (KÖFI) and technological remote monitoring systems (FET, HETA, turnout heating, and lighting control), real-time centralized traffic management has become possible along the entire 175 km length of the Budapest–Hegyeshalom main line.
During the development:
-
15 stations were equipped with ELPULT-based remote control,
-
4 stations with AKF-based remote control, and
-
1 station with AKF-based remote supervision,
in close cooperation with MÁV’s specialists.
The system provides a unified interface for displaying feedback from different types and generations of interlocking equipment, while also integrating the supervision of overhead line, turnout heating, and lighting systems.
Thanks to automated traffic control, the line’s capacity and operational reliability have significantly increased, improving passenger comfort and service quality.
Prolan’s proprietary hardware and software solutions have contributed to higher railway capacity, efficiency, and safety — all without the need for major infrastructure reconstruction.
