International Success – Márton Feldmann Joins the Executive Board of the European Rail Industry Association

On June 11, 2026, UNIFE (The European Rail Industry Association) held its annual general meeting in Brussels, where Márton Feldmann, Director of Prolan’s Railway Automation Division, was elected as a member of the association’s Executive Board and also as vice-president.

The association, which has 115 full members and 13 associate members, aims primarily to strengthen and represent—both in Europe and internationally—a competitive, sustainable, and technologically advanced European railway supplier market. In addition to large multinational corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—which account for approximately 40% of the association’s suppliers—are also represented; Márton Feldmann will also serve as chairman of their committee for the next three years.

Prolan Process Co. has been a member of UNIFE since 2018. Prolan is the largest domestic railway technology developer, manufacturer, and engineering services provider in Hungary, having developed the first interlocking system entirely designed in Hungary that meets all digitalization requirements; it is also the largest supplier of central traffic control systems, railway power supply and high-voltage remote control systems, as well as on-board data collection and energy metering systems.

Prolan, almost uniquely, devotes almost 15% of its sales revenue to research and development and invests in new technologies, while maintaining close cooperation with leading technical universities in order to participate as a key player in upcoming railway projects, and to demonstrate the excellence of Hungarian engineers and the technologies they have developed, further strengthening the country's railway supplier background and increasing domestic added value.

Following the general meeting, Márton Feldmann highlighted that, after many years, a tangible consensus has finally emerged among market players, the European Commission, the Council, and members of the Parliament that preference for European suppliers must be enforced in EU public procurement, and that it should be facilitated by simplifying regulations and partly by keeping technical specifications unchanged, so that prices change in a more favourable direction alongside the increase in delivery volumes. One of the success factors for a competitive European supply industry is cooperation between large companies and SMEs, so that they can jointly address the widely felt shortage of manufacturing and supply capacity and, through joint efforts, reduce delivery times.

He added that now is the time for domestic players to use the newly available EU funds to strengthen themselves to the level of Czech or Polish national companies, retaining the best engineers in Hungary while also promoting careers in the railway sector to ensure sustainable operations.
