A major technology upgrade has been completed at the Prolan Electronics Factory with the successful installation and commissioning of the new SMD production line.

The first major step in the development took place two years ago, when the Prolan Electronics Factory added an MPM Momentum II solder paste printer to its machinery. The equipment enables highly precise application of solder paste onto printed circuit boards. This August, the new placement machines and reflow oven also arrived, completing the modernization of the SMD production line.

Higher Performance and Greater Manufacturing Flexibility

The new production line features two Fuji AIMEX IIIc placement machines capable of handling a wide range of components, from extremely small parts measuring just 0.3 × 0.15 mm to components up to 102 mm in size.

The first machine, equipped with two robots and two H24S heads, can place up to 48,000 chip components per hour. The second machine, fitted with a DX12 head for handling larger components, can achieve a placement rate of up to 12,000 components per hour.

The system also provides comprehensive logistical support for handling and moving the components required for production. This is particularly important at the Prolan Electronics Factory, where manufacturing a diverse product portfolio and responding flexibly to changing production requirements are key priorities.

More Efficient and Energy-Saving Technology

The production line's new Vitronics Soltec Centurion 930 reflow oven features nine heating zones, two more than its predecessor. In addition to its higher throughput, it enables more complex modules to be soldered with reduced thermal stress.

The upgraded technology also delivers lower energy consumption and reduced heat emissions. This results not only in direct energy savings but also in lower cooling requirements within the production area.

The First 1,140 PCBs Have Already Been Produced

Following installation and commissioning, the first trial production run was successfully completed: 1,140 RKV510 PCBs were manufactured on the new SMD line.

With higher performance, greater manufacturing flexibility and a more advanced technological environment, the new production line will provide strong support for the future operations of the Prolan Electronics Factory.

The upgrade also marks the end of an era. The new equipment replaces machines that had been in service since 2000 and contributed to the production of countless Prolan modules over more than two decades.
