Shaping the Future of Hungarian Railways at Magyar Vasút 2026

Prolan Zrt. participated in the Magyar Vasút 2026 conference as a Gold Sponsor, with seven representatives attending the event, which focused on the current challenges and development opportunities facing Hungary's railway sector.

One of the conference's key highlights was the panel discussion entitled “The Baross Plan Gets on Track – Where and When Will the Modernisation of Hungary's Railway Network Begin?”, moderated by Márton Feldmann, Director of the Railway Automation Business Unit at Prolan Zrt.

The session opened with a presentation by Szilárd Kövesdi, CEO of GYSEV Zrt., who shared key lessons learned from infrastructure development within the Amber Rail project.

The subsequent panel discussion brought together Gergely Horn, Deputy State Secretary; Réka Németh (MÁV Pályaműködtetési Zrt.); Szilárd Kövesdi (GYSEV Zrt.); Dr. Imre Kovács (Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt.); and Ádám Strelisky (IMG Solution Zrt.) to exchange views on the opportunities and challenges of modernising Hungary's railway infrastructure.

The discussion addressed several key topics, including network capacity, the elimination of temporary speed restrictions, infrastructure investment financing, digitalisation, and the alignment of railway operators' needs.

Márton Feldmann also emphasised the importance of preparing development projects well in advance:

“I would also like to encourage railway infrastructure managers to prepare their development plans, as opportunities will certainly arise when having these plans ready will prove valuable and allow them to be put into action.”

His remarks highlighted the importance of long-term planning and well-prepared investments in supporting the modernisation of railway infrastructure.

At Prolan Zrt., the modernisation of railway infrastructure and the continued development of Hungary's railway sector are of strategic importance. Through our innovative railway automation solutions and decades of industry expertise, we remain committed to playing an active role in shaping the future of Hungarian railways.
